# Attaching SharePoint files

> Attach SharePoint files to the email you're writing: find them by browsing or searching, select them, choose PDF where you want it, and attach them.

## Attaching files

1. Write a new email, or reply to one, and open MailConnect.
2. Find the files: browse a tab down to a library or folder, or search. On the search tab (**Organization**), narrow the results with **All**, **Sites** or **Files**.
3. Tick the files you want, in as many folders as you like. They gather at the bottom: **3 selected files**.
4. For Word, Excel, PowerPoint, emails and some other files, choose the format: the file's own (for example **DOCX**) or **PDF**. **Convert all to PDF** switches them all.
5. Select **Attach**.

MailConnect attaches a copy of each file as it is in SharePoint at that moment.
Later changes to the file in SharePoint don't reach the email. A file that can't
be converted to PDF is attached as it is.

When what you've selected gets close to Outlook's 25 MB limit for attachments,
from 20 MB, a bar at the bottom shows the total size and warns you. If some files can't
be attached, they stay selected, so you can try again.

Your organisation can turn attaching off. In Outlook mobile, you can't attach
files with MailConnect.

## The bar in new emails

When you start a new email, Outlook may show
**Attach files from SharePoint with MailConnect** above it.
**Launch MailConnect** opens MailConnect, ready to attach. If Outlook can't show
that button, the bar says
**To attach SharePoint files, open MailConnect from this window's ribbon.**

Your organisation can turn the bar off.
